HUSH - Profile

Bryan Chali (born 24 October 1992)

Better known by his stage name HUSH, an acronym standing for Hustle Until Something Happens, is a Zambian hip hop recording artist and actor. He rose to fame after running up second in the Fourth Season of Zambia’s biggest and most watched talent search show of all time “DREAMZ ZAMBIA

He released his debut single “Happy” in February 2017 which featured one of Zambia’s favourite song birds Miss Judy Yo. Hush is currently not affiliated to any record label. His debut single was produced by Ricore one of Zambia’s most recognised hip hop producers and the man behind the production of Slap dee’s “waumfwa” https://www.zililebeats.com/hip-hop and the late legendary Pjay’s “golden goal” song https://youtu.be/OwR0Xk9lwNs.

Following his debut single “Happy” http://zambianplay.com/hush-ft-judy-happy-prod-ricore/ Hush went on to release singles “Levels” Ft. Alpha Romeo http://zambianplay.com/hush-ft-alpha-romeo-levels-prod-ricore/ and Psycho http://zambianplay.com/hush-psycho-prod-ricore/ all produced by Ricore.

Born on the Copperbelt province of Zambia; Kitwe, Hush narrates that he moved to Lusaka at age 20 to pursue his studies at Evelyn Hone College where he studied Computer Engineering. By then he narrates to have had already been writing Rap songs which he performed at social events held at his school. It was not until 2013 that he began going to studios to record. In the same year, he got together with a couple of friends and formed a group called the “Flowbase" and down the line he got linked to Ricore, the XYZ team and Judy Yo.

Asked to summarise his story, Hush narrates that “Life was not all rosy” mostly following the passing of his Dad in 2005(MHSRIP), leaving only his Mum to single handedly fend for him and his siblings.

I dropped out of school in my last year to focus on my music.I stayed in lusaka and started living with my brother. We were making music, doing some small small shows just to survive” recalls Hush.

There can only be one phrase for such a show of enthusiasm and that is “ Pray and Hustle” http://zambianplay.com/hush-ft-kwanda-khlassiq-pray-hustle-prod-ricore/ the title of a song that saw him collaborate Internationally with South African rapper Kwanda also featuring Zambia’s rising star Khlassiq produced by Ricore.

Despite all the ups and downs, suffices to say that Hush’s determination and relentless spirit has began to pay off and he has undoubtedly proven to be a force to reckon with on the Zambian music scene and is indeed the future of Zambia’s hip hop music.
