Malinunchi - A Talent to look out for.

If you're an old soul and worries that Zambian music is slowly losing meaning, especially in terms of delivering mature content and acceptable social commentary, then you haven't heard Malinunchi's music. Real names Jacob Israel Phiri, the young artist, delivers vocals that appeal to both the young at heart and the old.

Born in 1998, in Lusaka, Malinunchi's music attempts and rightly succeeds at offering a reminiscent connection between emotions and experiences. It is difficult to trace the origin of Malinunchi's love for music, but it is also safe to assume and later conclude that it may be a cognitive reflex expressed in art form by the talented young man. Traces of this love for music date back to the artist's school days at Kafue Boys, where he won Best Rapper of the Year in his final grade year.

In a generational era of a mentally distressed society, young artists are not an exception to mental health challenges. Admittedly, there are struggles that can take a toll on an artist unbeknownst to fans and family. Anxiety and depression are common in the industry and should not be taken for granted. Malinunchi is well aware of these challenges that mostly come with fame.

The young artist understands that getting himself supported through music would require a great deal of time and perseverance. He contends that promoting music can be tedious, especially for an upcoming artist. He notes that support from family and friends is valued but not enough to break through to stardom.

Struggling to make the right connections in the music industry, Malinunchi took part in an online competition organised by Zilile Beatz. The competition was aimed at identifying and nurturing young and unsupported talent in Zambia.
