Mr Kelly Jo ZM -Ba Ndola
The daily decision for 25 year old Mr. Kelly Jo Zm swings between balancing academic pressure and pursuing his music passion. In the heat of academic demands, there is never enough time for Joseph Kunda Mwape, a Copperbelt University, CBU student, to pursue his first love and music.
Joseph alias Mr. Kelly Jo Zm, the Ndola based inceptive music artist, is currently pursuing his final year of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, BSc. Chem at one of Zambia's prestigious and highly esteemed universities.
Kelly Jo's earliest recounts of music stems back when he was just a little kid. He veritably would make music beats on anything he would lay his hands on, especially metallic objects. This habit would almost always attract a comment from his mother, cementing her belief that he would one day become a musician.
As a last born child in a family of eight, Kelly Jo grew up as a shy and timid boy afraid to express himself in any art form. He rarely took part in outdoor activities. Whilst in grade school, the Moomba Secondary School alumni focused solely on obtaining good grades and achieved squarely his mission.
As a university student, whenever Kelly Jo is tired of writing assignments and reports, he uses his writing skills to pen lyrics for his songs. With an EP to his name, the young artist has featured artists like Yo Maps and Shezy and is currently growing his online music platform base. The budding artist still strides to break through in the highly competitive music industry.
The gift of writing music has been inspired by Kelly Jo's normal everyday life experiences and personal struggles. The Afrosounds artist believes music plays a huge role in people's lives and resonates with people in different life situations and circumstances.
Kelly Jo took part in an online musical competition for upcoming Zambian artists hosted by Zilile Beatz late last year. Zilile Beatz aims at nurturing , grooming, and supporting young and emerging local and African artists. The platform, through various means, further promotes artists and their music. Kelly Jo will be part of a Zilile Beatz music compilation project involving other young artists to be produced by M.Beats Entertainment Limited.
